Logitech LX7 - My first laser mouse

Expensive laser mice seem to be all the rave among the blogosphere lately, Logitech’s MX Revolution has been a big hit as well as the VX Revolution. Spending big money on mice has never been my thing, but I have needed a nice mouse for my MacBook Pro for quite some time.

I thought about picking up a wireless mighty mouse, but 70 bucks for a mouse with too little functionality is not what I had in mind. So I decided to pick up a LX7 from Logitech.

What I was looking for

To be entirely I honest I love what Apple has done with the trackpad, adding scrolling and now even zooming is perfect for my laptop when I am on the run. But at the desk I need a nice, precise mouse that works well with Final Cut.

I felt the MX and VX Revolution and thought they were amazing, full of options, and buttons. But 80-100 dollars is too much and too many buttons for me to successfully use. The LX7 at only $29.99 (on sale) is was just the mouse I was looking for…

Functionality

Having never had a laser mouse I really did not know what I was in for, the precision of this mouse is outstanding and it moves smoothly across my desk with out a mouse pad. I wanted to get a mouse with at least as much functionality as the track pad, and this mouse does just that.

It feels great in the hand with a nice fit and also features side scrolling and back and forth arrow buttons. Basic, but just what I need for my laptop.

Bundled with the mouse was the wireless stick, which is about the size of a USB thumb drive. It also comes with a docking station with the stick, which goes perfectly with my 802.11G docked antenna.

Some more things I love

I hate buying electronics lately due to the terrible packaging, you have to dissect the gadget from the packaging lately, but Logitech does well with their devices. I know it seems stupid, but opening this mouse was a walk in the park and I appreciate that.

I also love the battery’s position in this mouse, like most wireless mice it takes 2 AA batteries. My other optical mouse takes the batteries in the top, but this mouse takes them in the bottom in a slanted position, original and functional.

This mouse is for you if…

I know I have done nothing but talk about how much I love this product so to close I thought I should tell you when this mouse is good for you.

  1. You want a cheap laser mouse.
  2. You do not need the functionality of an MX or VX mouse.
  3. You are looking for precision in a mouse
  4. You hate wires
  5. You want control

Yea dude wireless mice are awsome. I have I Hama (an off brand but it works fine) mouse that was my dads originally but i kind of stole it when i got my laptop last summer. Mine runs on 2 AAA batteries that you load from the top. The only thig that bothers me a bit is that I have to remember to turn the mouse off at night and im trying to turn it off every time i leave my computer for a prolonged period of time. IfI forget and leave it on constantly, the batteries will only last about 4-5 days. Yours is much newer so it will probably last longer but i wanted to give you a heads up on that. I can’t wait till everything is wireless.

Yeah wireless is nice. I have been using wireless mice for a little while now. But getting used to a laser mouse is a whole different story. I have found my self amazed by this things precision.

I’m testing it. But things I want to know that nobody tells, what is the DPI resolution? and the most important, in logitech pages talk about an LX 7 that it is optical with 1200 DPI, I dont know is really is a laser mouse, cause they have use the same model and chassis for this one. I buy it whit a cordless keyboard and the packashing says cordless desktop LX 710 Laser, including the keyb lx 710 and the mouse lx 7, but I cant find any description of the mouse lx7 laser only this post
I find it really ausome, well designed really grat working, but I’m not sure what I have buyed

hye,
I just got one yesterday with the wireless keyboard and I love ‘em both already. Here’s the site for ‘em:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/partners/details/US/EN,CRID=1970,parentCRID=925,SCRID=925,CONTENTID=12456
it says the dpi is 1000 for this mouse.

Also wanted to say to Scott S., as far as I’ve read, this mouse turns itself off when you’re not using it so battery life is supposed to be great, I hope so! I also really like the battery placement, makes the mouse feel very “balanced”.

I think I got a heck of a deal at newegg on these. By the way, the keyboard is great, nice and crisp, and the home…end key group is 2×3 just like I like it.

I saw the lx 7 keyboard and mouse newegg and tigerdirect, ut would only like to get the mouse.
I have a nice keyboard logitech that I like.. but cant seam to find the mouse only.. where can I get it please. help

thanks
