There is hope for the Senate!

I was reading around and found a cool article from Wired Magazine about a young Senator hopeful named Pete Ashdown from Utah.

Ashdown is a democrat who hates the DMCA, thank goodness, finally somebody, and thinks that the RIAA and MPAA are corrupt (me too!)

He runs Ubuntu Linux at his office and says he has only a few Windows machines, the thing that got me the most was Ashdown’s quote about his iPod,

When it comes to music hardware, I have an iPod, 40-gig iPod, and I rip all my own music. I prefer when I buy music to go out and buy the CD, bring it home, rip the contents off it, archive the CD. Having been a DJ in the past, I just recently completed ripping my entire collection of CDs, which was over 2,000 CDs.

WOW! Someone who enjoys good content and isn’t afraid to say forget the DMCA. Well I really hope that Hatch becomes elected, because as someone who was in a Model US Senate, I think that the Senate isn’t nearly up to speed with technology. I mean in one debate we were talking about intranetting the whole country…haha…this means all computers have to be connected in a LAN form of structure…with wires.

Anyway, support Ashdown, he looks like he knows what he’s talking about and will fight the DMCA pt 2 law, check out the full article for yourself at Wired.
